ava swims

So much of parenting is learning more and more about your children. For the last couple of weeks during swimming lessons I have learned a new side of Ava's personality.

Ava is almost always by my side. In our day to day life she is my buddy, we do almost everything together.

I was therefore very surprised at Ava's independence and outgoing personality at swimming lessons. She went right into the pool on day one, did everything that was asked of her (including several jumps off the diving board) and excelled. She enjoyed every moment of it.

We found it amusing that out of the ten kids in Ava's class (two of which cried the whole time) she was the only girl! Maybe that is why she felt so comfortable! And can you believe how cute this girl is?!

Oh, I didn't realize Ava was taking lessons this year! YAY, Ava! :)

I think there's something in the genes about how well your kids face new situations so independently and with such bravery.

I was joking with Tara the other day about how I'm pretty sure that by the time Audra is taking lessons, Isaac will still be in the class that meets on the stairs, scared to get his face wet! :) That, apparently, is in HIS genes. [Ahem. Mark.]

Love to you!

Good job, Ava!! I love reading about your sweet relationship with Ava. It encourages me as I continue to learn how to be a mommy to my girl, too. God is perhaps instilling a quiet confidence in Ava through her closeness with you, Amy. It can be very sacrificial, at times, to have a little helper with you for most if the day. What a gift you are giving to your girl!
